27 at 8:18am) There was a major change in deer activity this morning.
A handful of does were in the food plot at first light -- but the bucks
were not interested. They were marking limbs and making rubs. At daylight
an 8-point worked the edge of the woods, raking several low limbs and bushes
with it's antlers. Two other bucks also raked limbs. Then the 10-point
walked up from the gully and began raking limbs and bushes. Here is a 4
pic series of him hard at it. Everything happened early this morning,
the last deer I saw was at 7:20am. Today was the first day of the pre-rut.
AccuRest Bows are the future of archery with their tubular arrow rest system. While it is not a "Draw-Lock" type device, it is the easiest and safest bow to shoot. The AccuRest does not require tuning or setup. While the AccuRest is available in 50, 60 and 70# draw weights they are also introducing a beginner's bow with the same unique system in 15 and 20# draw weights for only $199. US

More Scouting Pics - Deer In Mid September The greyface buck looses his velvet. Plus, lots of deer pics: f4 bucks, some very cool fawn pics, and deer activity at different times of the day with different lighting situations. A bowhunter for the better part of 30 years, Ron, just like many others, started shooting with a peep sight. That little piece of plastic has let me down on a number of occasions. But not since he met Don Priebe tried his Hind Sight. Dave shoots into 3/4 inch plywood to see how this broadhead penetrates and if the "Insta-Cut" cut on impact tip is tough enough. Then he compares it to other broadheads and tests with different arrow shafts as well as for accuracy. "The bull started to move. It didn't seem to bother him that all his cows were no longer in sight. He walked back into the creek and started drinking. I still didn't have a clear shot because of the brush. I checked my range finder." "The rut was going full blast. Little boy deer, as is their wont, were chasing little girl deer all over the woods. Some of the boy deer were not so little." Randy tell s us, "The first five arrows and the last five arrows I shoot everyday I shoot from a distance of five feet with my eyes closed." And here's why... Early last week I set up a new photo blind where I could get a better look at where the deer come from. I scored a picture of the 10-point right away. You can even see his coat changing color. (1042x768) (800x600) (640x480) Three days later he walked even closer to the blind. (1042x768) (800x600) (640x480). But, on the down side I saw a dozen more deer 40 yards away in my food plot. I definitely do not want to spook them so I waited for them all to leave, which was well over an hour after dark. Enter to win the innovative TreeSuit treestand alternative and hunt from any tree. Here are two quotes from Rich's heartfelt article about Tuesday's tragedy. "It was the most horrific act of terrorism our country has ever witnessed -- these photos showing the World Trade Center showing the World Trade Center were captured from the office window of our columnist, Susan Lagazo." And the second quote: "We are a good people who value life and only desire a world at peace." Tuesday
morning at 9:51 EST Rich Walton opened an email from our bowhunting.net
columnists Susan Lagazo. The email
read, "While busy at work (in Manhatten) I saw the unbelievable...
These are taken from my window!"
One of the things I've been remiss about is updating the Columnists page for Bowhunting.net contributors. So I set a few hours aside this evening and put it in a new format that has (I hope) everyone. These are the cool people who have stood up and said, "I want to be a part of bowhunting on the internet" and I thank each and everyone for it. Enjoy. Bucks loose their velvet fast. I took pictures of this unique 6-point on Sept 5 and he was in velvet, but here he is on Sept 7 and the velvet is totally gone. This buck was not the only one to show up without velvet today, you'll find 3 others in the photo gallery I made. And, in case you want a wallpaper of BigBoy-6, the way he looks right now, here it is in 1024x768, 800x600, or 640x480. Normally priced at $339.97 this hot shooting bow is now available only for Bowhunting.Net visitors for the low, low price of $151.99. "I don't practice hard all summer. My idea of summer shooting is a round of 25 arrows a couple times a week. In August I'll expand that to 25 arrows a day. But the method of practice changes". Check Out this Nice 10-Point That Just Lost His Velvet That dark red color on this buck's antlers is dried blood. It's only been a few hours since he shed his velvet and the reddish color will be history in no time. I took several pictures of this Big Boy 10-point as he approached and joined other deer in my food plot yesterday afternoon. Last year I took a picture af a 3 legged buck. He is still around this year and I got some pics of him the week before I left for the August bear hunt. (The last picture is him last year.) Regardless of the lighting conditions, you will be able to clearly see your sight pins with Tritium Fiber Optics. Funnels, by their own definition, force concentrated animal movements through small areas. Funnels are often stand locations that are productive through the entire season. Want to see what users of the popular TREESUIT have to say about the results of hunting from one? TreeSuit. "The rut is starting and the 'big guys' are on the move. We spent all day glassing and checking our setups. We are ready to take full advantage of this magical time." Brings arrowrest technology in line with today's lighter, faster bows and arrows. The concept is simple; since the arrowrest is the source of many tuning problems ... make the rest DISAPPEAR ON RELEASE. The News, Hunts, Events & Articles in August 2001 Exactly

The Pre-Rut / Rubbing Phase and Transition Phase What are the bucks and does doing in September? Why do some areas only have small racked bucks? How can you do to get larger bucks in your area? The ‘SNYPER’ is a super tough, two blade broadhead that starts with a traditional, razor sharp blade insert tip that slices on impact. Here's how it was on Sept 2.
