Stalking
After taking Blaine's picture I walked to the largest pond, where I've
killed hogs before. There are plenty of places for wild hogs to lay up
around the water's perimeter. The first hog I saw was laying in a mud hole.
I took it's picture and carefully sneaked to within bow range and took
a second picture, and when I did...
the hog moved it's ears slightly so I knew the jig was up. It slung
mud all the way to me when it jumped up and ran.
On the opposite side of the pond a hog surprised me and jumped up at
least 20 yards out in the pond. I kept going and soon took the picture
below of a young hog.
I came up on a stand and thought that staying put and letting the area
settle down might be a good thing. In short while I saw movement through
the leaves.
Tesas-S has a few exotics and two black bucks trotted by.
Two Axis deer does were next.
Far away, I saw movement and glassed it. Rick. So I got down and walked
over to him. According to my stomach, it was lunch time.
We drove into the nearest town and had an exceptionally good meal at
a local cafe owned by Merle's brother.
When we returned to Texas-S Merle had a suggestion... TO:
Afternoon Hunt.
