Day #3  Rick and Ricky Philippi went to the Swamp looking for hogs. Rick saw a little red piglet standing by a brush pile. He moved toward it slowly. When he got close he picked out a dozen hogs bedded in the brush. As he moved into shooting position a hog saw him and they busted out and ran further into the swamp.  Deeper in the swamp Rick saw two hogs coming toward him on a trail to his right, one was a monster. Rick stalked 20 yards to a large oak tree and hid behind it, 15 yards from the trail the hogs were on. Rick waited. Both hogs walked slowly by and Rick drew, picked his spot, and shot the monster hog in the chest. The hog was disoriented and Rick shot again and hit it a second time. It ran, leaving a great blood trail that  led to the big hog. Ricky Philippi went to a ladder stand in the swamp and Rick came to check with me. It was about 10:00. Rick said he would make a push for me and see if he could move some hogs to me. We started walking and Rick saw a group of hogs. I hid and Rick circled. In a little while a couple of dozen hogs filed by, but 100 yards distant from me. I had a Haydell's Hog Squaller in my pocket and started squalling loudly. I saw the hogs react at once, they started trotting -- getting the heck out of there! So much for hog squalling. Haydell's makes the absolute best great deer gurnter but I'd have to say thier hog grunter and squaller are lacking.  Meanwhile Ricky was watching several small pigs in the ditch behind him. Some went to the hog wallow and the others followed. Ricky heard another group in the woods behind him. There were two big pigs with them. One of the big hogs was a boar with long spikey hair on it's back and Ricky decided to try for it. He drew and aimed behind the front shoulder and released the arrow. It ran smack into a tree and turned back the opposite way and dropped. Ricky got down and recovered the hog.
