A Wild Hog Bowhunt In Progress - 2003
April
2 - "My mom wants a wild boar," said my bud Perry Wicker. "Ok, the
next one is hers," I answered as I turned the keys in the ignition. The
days are getting longer but eventually it was "hog time". Almost on que,
noises of movement came from behind me and I peered through the cedar limbs
to check it out. A bunch of wild hogs were huddled in the tall, dried grass
of the 30 yard open area to my rear. They waited there a while and then
advanced to the trail I was hunting, I counted 35 hogs! They filed by my
tripod, the shoats first, then the larger hogs. A big sow turned broadside
and stopped -- so I drew, put my bright green fiber optic pin behind the
left shoulder, held there an instant, and released. The sow raced into
the woods and the other hogs ran up the road. Crash! The sow was down.
It sounded like that was it so I got down and drove to get my bud Perry
help getting his mom's hog out. But there was gonna be more excitement
on the recovery of this hog. NEXT |
