COMPREHENSIVE HUNTING EQUIPMENT LIST
by Roy Keefer

Because I take a lot of hunting trips, I have found it is important not to forget something in packing.  If you're a thousand miles from home and don't have a piece of clothing or equipment you desperately need, you have a problem.  As a result, I have compiled this list that I complete for every trip.

Of course, the list has to be modified for each trip depending on whether I'm flying or driving to a hunt.  Each of the items has been included for a reason.  If I'm tree stand hunting, a pair of pruning shears and /or a pruning pole is important.  On antelope hunts in the desert they're not needed.  I haven't included all of the things that go into my tackle box, such as allen wrenches, extra strings, etc.   I use the compact tackle bag for airline trips and try to minimize its weight by taking the tools and parts that I can't do without.

Some of the items may be taken for granted, such as your hunting license, but I'll bet there is someone out there who has left his license at home and discovered the oversight too late.  One time before I created this list, I was going on an archery hunt and a hundred miles from home remembered that I had left my arrows in the garage.  Pretty stupid but it happens.

Recently I hunted with a couple who left their birth certificates at home before driving to the airport two hundred miles away.  They had problems with the airline because they were flying into Canada and a passport or driver's license and birth certificate were required.  After many frustrating hours they finally were able to continue with their plans but it was a headache they could have avoided.

I am continually adding and subtracting from this list.  I hope you will let me know if I should be making additional changes to it.
