Ann Nance
I grew up in
West Palm Beach
,
Florida
. Many family vacations were spent camping. I believe this is when my love for the outdoors began. I had a very negative view towards hunting until I met my husband. He began to educate me on the positive effects of ethical hunting. I began to go with him on his hunting trips. I would take my camera or video recorder and sit in a tree stand to view the wildlife.
In 2001, on my second trip to
Africa
, I caught the hunting bug. I shot my first animal. I took a nice zebra stallion with a rifle.
In November of 2002, I shot my first whitetail buck in
South Carolina
. He was a beautiful eight point. My husband had now been bow hunting for several years. I began to notice how much more challenging bow hunting was. I got my first bow, a Hoyt sapphire, around two years ago. I shot a
Florida
whitetail doe the last day of season that year.
We hunt frequently at the Buckfield Plantation in
South Carolina
. Even though I saw several nice bucks (8 points or greater) this past year, none of the bucks presented me with a good bow shot. In August of 2005, my husband and I returned to
Zimbabwe
. I brought my new Matthews Black Max 2. I am now pulling 46lbs after weight training three days a week for three months to prepare for our trip. My first morning, I took a beautiful zebra stallion. By the end of our 14 day hunt, I also took 2 nice Impala rams and a fantastic warthog.
