The Silent Hog Destroyer

The UPS truck pulled up in front of my house.  The driver walked up carrying my new BowTech Destroyer 350.  I have had numerous bows over the course of my life, but there was something special in my mind about this one. A couple of my buddies who I truly respect shot over 40 bows at the ATA show and they said hands down the BowTech Destroyer was the best shooting of all.  I opened the box and The Destroyer was trimmed in Optifade Forrest Camo.  It looked SWEET!

I took the bow to my local BowTech dealer and they made a few adjustments and then I stepped over to the range.  In less than 5 minutes, the bow was shooting quarter inch groups at 20 yards.  The bow was fast and quiet with completely no shock or kick upon the release of the arrow.  FANTASTIC!

What a beautiful, great shooting bow the new Destroyer turned out to be.

I have never been real detailed on the eccentrics of how a bow works.  I want a bow that performs in hunting situations and when that moment of truth arrives.  Over the last four years, I have shot only BowTech and have taken over 30 animals and I can tell you, hands down, these are the best bows I have ever shot.  What I like is the silence upon the release of the arrow.  The benefit of a silent bow is that animals do not jump the string, THIS IS HUGE FOR A BOWHUNTER!

I will give you a few facts about the DESTROYER 350.  BowTech did not intend for this bow to be a speed demon bow, it just happened to turn out that way.  They wanted this bow to have a smooth draw, be shock free, and accurate.  Believe me they accomplished everyone of these.

Destroyer 350

  • Brace Height      6″
  • Axle to Axle      32 3/8″
  • Kinetic Energy   95.22 fpe
  • Draw Length       25-30″
  • Let Off                 80%
  • Draw Weight       50, 60, 70
  • IBO Speed         342-350 fps  WOW!

Last week, I loaded up and headed to my ranch. I was looking for a wild hog with my brand new Destroyer. I settled into my Double Bull with much anticipation.  It was 90 degrees, smoking hot, but I did not care.  I was in the blind for a couple of hours when I noticed some movement off to my right.  Two medium sized hogs were leisurely making their way to my destination. The time of truth had approached.  I slowly picked up the bow.   The pigs were at 20 yards when a black boar gave me a good broadside shot.  Picking my spot, I squeezed the trigger and the Maxima Hunter was on its way.  The hit was good, the SpitFire Max did it’s job and the hog was down in seconds.  The Destroyer lived up to my expectations.

As they say, proof is in the pudding and it was everything it was said to be.

I have to tell you first hand this bow is flat out hot and it will blow you away.  Now I can’t wait for deer season to roll around to use it.  Go to BowTech Archery to learn more about all BowTech archery equipment.

Rick Philippi
