NSSF Sponsors Honored American Veterans Afield [HAVA]
National Shooting Sports Foundation to Join Veteran’s Program Leadership
Joining dozens of its member companies in supporting HAVA’s mission to assist disabled veterans and active duty military wounded in their re-integration into civilian life, the National Shooting Sports Foundation announced today a multi-year support program for Honored American Veterans Afield and the appointment of NSSF Senior Vice President Chris Dolnack to the HAVA Board of Directors. NSSF will join existing sponsors in the elite “Sustaining Sponsor” group and will help guide the development of HAVA as the industry’s premier veteran’s support group which marries volunteers from member companies with these American heroes who have returned from war with serious rehabilitation issues. These military and former military personnel are in the process of rehabilitation and HAVA provides them with hunting and shooting opportunities to re-build their confidence that they can return to the enjoyment of outdoor sports despite their injuries.
“We are elated to join the leadership of HAVA and this group of shooting sports companies who are standing up for those disabled American veterans who gave their full measure of commitment to freedom; and now are in need of help in assimilating back into more normal life,” said Chris Dolnack, NSSF Senior VP. “HAVA represents the best of what our industry has to offer and has enlisted some of the leading companies from many of our product categories to sustain this ongoing effort. NSSF’s ability to marshall additional industry resources to the effort will help HAVA grow, and this statement of support for these American heroes puts NSSF in its proper position of leading important industry programs.”
“Adding the NSSF to our roster of leaders will greatly expand HAVA’s ability to help our disabled veteran community and will put the shooting sports industry’s statement of veteran support in the forefront of all groups whose mission is to assist these deserving men and women who have given so much,” said HAVA Chairman Tom Taylor. “We are proud of the work our volunteers have done in the past few years as HAVA has developed and look forward to expanding our role in veteran support, now with the valuable assistance of NSSF’s leadership.”
