This morning i slept later than usual and had to hurry to get into the blind before sunrise. And once there I was really sleepy and sat in my chair and in spite of trying not to, I nodded out for awhile. When I stopped dozing it was daylight. But not to worry, because I didn’t see anything around anyway. The the clock ticked by.

When 9:00 came and I had not seen a single deer and was considering going to the house.  I decided to wait until 9:30. But I never got there.

I saw a buck in the woods to the north. It leisurely walked in my direction. I put the Leopold’s on him and — holy cow — it was Double Brow Tine.

Wait. Wait.  Wait.

He walked past the tree where I have a SkyPoint game camera. Ohhhh my, he was coming toward me.

He stopped 18 yards from me and I zoomed in on him with my camera. I was zooming myself, it could happen right here, today, this morning.

I checked my bow to be sure everything was ok. The arrow was on the rest correctly and I turned on the rheostat and the green fiber optic light on my Cobra bowsight came on … bright as bright could be. Then I made sure he was centered in my video camera.

Now … if he would just turn broadside.

HE DID!

I settled my pin in behind his right shoulder, making certain I was not going to bump my tripod or camera. The Cobra’s top glowed brightly behind the right front shoulder.

I touched the trigger on my Fletch Hook.

AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

It happened so fast I could not see the actual hit. He turned and ran towards the gulch. My arrow was flopping around as he ran. I could not believe it.

I had just done it to him again. I felt horrible.

How could I do this this this magnificent buck! …AGAIN!

I was totally bummed.
