A darker green, grassy area in a low spot has always aroused my curiosity but I’ve never checked it out. Until a few days ago. I walked down to it and, surprise, I splopped up to my ankles in mud and water. Hidden in thick, lush green, knee high grass was a 15 yard long puddle of water. Apparently it is a seep.

An hour later I was back with a SpyPoint game camera and a homemade stand for it. I put ’em up at the mouth of the water. After I had the camera mounted and working I poked around in the mud and water with a long pone to see how deep it was. My guess was it was at least a foot deep at the mouth. The time was 4:47pm.

At 6:03pm the first deer showed up. The thursty doe drank from the seep water and got its picture taken a few times.

Of course, I didn’t know that until I picked up the SD card from the camera yesterday. I also discovered that the batteries had been low and the camera only took 85 pics before it shut down at 7:46pm the same day. This SpyPoint camera normally takes 3,000 plus pictures on new batteries.

So I loaded the camera with new AA batteries and put it back out yesterday afternoon. This time the pictures could get very interesting.

Robert, you found the secret seep. I bet you will kill a giant over it someday! :) Nice photos my friend.
