In and out like a ghost. That’s what he did this morning … and he left his calling card for all to know.

A doe was meandering through the trees to the north when the July’s 9-point buck walked around a tree and stopped close to the doe. She surely had to know he was around but just the same she looked surprised. They were both 45 yards away and I let my Sony do it’s thing.

The doe walked away and the buck looked around. I covered him with pics and zoomed in tight on one of them. Then the 9-point walked toward two does that were almost hidden in the tall weeds. He walked by them and angled toward a 3rd doe. He was on a mission, but it was not about the doe.

He stepped around the 3rd doe too and went to some trees behind her. These particular trees were on my list of “one of the things to keep a watch on”. The 9-point grabbed a low hanging limb on a live oak tree in his teeth and yanked and chewed the low branches for at least a minute — leaving his scent marking for all to smell.

Then he walked through the trees and tall weeds and disappeared in the woods to the east as I zoomed in on him and added a few more pictures for you and I to enjoy today.
