Morning Hunt: We drank coffee and visited and now everyone is leaving for their hunting spots. Robbie is at the Double Cross. Timm is at the Scrape Lane. Billy Don is hunting the Slew Hole. I’ll be at the Hammer Hole.
The weather had a real change, it’s 38 instead of being in the low 20’s. Wind is light, only 3 mph. It outta be good hunting. But it wasn’t. No one saw any deer.
The afternoon hunt was a slow one too. A couple of deer were seen but too far away. Then we went to the 36 Restaurant in Gatesville and ate a good dinner.
Friday – Jan 18
Our county has an extended doe season and it ends this weekend. Billy Don is already here and is in his treestand right now. Robbie Cramer and Timm Getts are on their way (separately).
Billy Don just called me and he saw two button head bucks this afternoon. I’m going to pick him up right now.
I drove out and picked up Bill Don. He had more activity than the button bucks. He heard a wild hog grunting back in the brush. And 60 yards away a large buck chased around another deer around for 15 minutes.
Robbie Cramer called and he is on the road. We’re going to meet him in Hamilton in an hour.
We killed some mexican food at Ortega’s Mexican Restaurant. We all 3 ate stacked beef enchiladas with 2 eggs on top. Super good.
