Carbon Express, the leader in arrow technology, is pleased to announce that Team Carbon Express had a very successful weekend at the second leg of the FITA World Cup held in Antalya, Turkey.
Despite the challenging conditions of swirling wind at the seaside location, Carbon Express arrows were shooting dead on and Patrick Laursen took Gold in the Men’s Individual Compound division using Nano Pros and shot a 143 in the final round to win by 3 points. Fellow Carbon Express teammate Martin Damsbo took the Bronze, by beating Braden Gellenthien.
Patrick who qualified in the 17th position had a bye in the first round and then progressively got stronger with his Nano Pros, by shooting a 144, 146, 147, 148 and then a perfect 150 against countryman and Carbon Express teammate Martin Damsbo.
Martin qualified in the 5th spot, had a first round bye and then remained consistent through the event by shooting 147 in all his matches, until falling to Laursen with a score of 143.
Team Denmark and United States, viewed as two of the strongest teams, faced off in the finals and the Denmark team of Patrick Laursen, Martin Damsbo and Stephen shooting Carbon Express arrows beat the United States by a score of 230 to 225 to take the Gold. The Denmark team is no stranger to this elite level of competition as Patrick was on the team that took the Silver medal at the 2011 FITA World Championship in Italy, while Martin Damsbo is coming off a Silver medal at the First Leg of the FITA World Cup in Shanghai, China. Shooting in his first FITA World Cup, Stephen Hansen stepped up and used his valuable experience from his junior tournaments to be the equalizer for Denmark. Hansen is a former Junior European Outdoor Champion and is the current holder of the Junior World Outdoor Title.
Carbon Express Shooting Director Dietmar Trillus and his partner Ashley Wallace took home the Bronze medal in the Mixed Doubles Division for Team Canada, which included a win over second ranked Korea (151 – 148), whereas the Carbon Express team entered the event ranked 14th. Dietmar and Ashley then beat Mexico by hair (151 – 150) putting them in the final four where they lost to India, but then beat Iran 150 to 141 to take the Bronze.
