This is my 48th year to bowhunt and to say that I have had a blast would be an understatement. The changes I have seen since 1966 to the present are astounding. Some of them have been good and some not. The one thing that has changed to the positive is the broadhead quality. I remember back in my early years, over half the time I could not get a broadhead to fly straight. They always seemed to dip to the right or shoot high to the left, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Tuning them to fly straight was a full time job and honestly, they still did not fly straight consistently.
Today there are many good broadheads on the market making it very difficult for the hunter to decide which one is right for him or her. I have shot many of the broadheads since 1966 and I can speak from experience. Hands down my vote goes to the makers of the Grim Reaper Broadheads. Their motto is ‘Watch em’ Drop’ and I have. I started shooting Grim Reapers 5 years ago and over that time I have literally watched over a dozen animals drop within 20 yards from where I shot them. Grim Reapers are devastating and a very humane head to use from the standpoint, it does the job fast!
The GrimReaper razor tip requires no O-Rings or added hardware to secure the blades. Grim Reaper’s unprecedented design is kept intact because of a tension system spring that keeps the blades in place until impact, which is when they should open. All the entry holes I have witnessed have been large and devastating, which signals that they all opened upon contact. The blood trails are like road maps.

This past year I shot a wild boar on my ranch that tipped the scales at 400 lbs. I shot the big guy quartering away and the broadhead entered behind the front shoulder and blew out the shoulder bone on the opposite side. The boar did not go 60 yards until he piled up. UNREAL! My feelings are when a head can do that to a big boar; it can take any animal out in North America.

An added benefit is that Grim Reaper’s fly fantastic. They fly exactly like your field points which makes tuning them a no brainer.

As a hunter we have many choices but when it comes to the grading of broadheads, Grim Reapers are second to none. I test many different products and some are great and some I will not write about. I have tested Grim Reapers In the field for the past 5 years and they are flat out awesome, as good as it gets! Oh, did I mention they are made in the USA by real hardcore hunters!
