60X Custom Strings have expanded their sales team and brought on board a National Sales Manager. Through an extensive nationwide applicant search for a sales/archery professional, 60X has chosen Bart Shortall from Denton, Maryland to fill the position.
In 2010, after a 19 year career as a paid Firefighter with the Anne Arundel Co. MD Fire Department, Bart retired from the fire service. Prior to the Fire Department career, he worked 3 years as a Paramedic for the Caroline Co. MD EMS Department, and 1 year as a 911 Dispatcher in Queen Anne’s Co. MD Emergency Services.
During his 23 year career in Emergency Services, Bart enjoyed the outdoors as a stress reliever. Fishing, Crabbing and Deer Hunting, especially Bowhunting were his “go to” off duty activities. During this off duty time, Bart also decided to pursue a full time profession in the outdoors.
Writing articles for outdoor columns quickly became a part time interest for Shortall who has 42 articles published in 6 different publications, including North American Whitetail and 3D & Bowhunting times. Having competed 19 years in local/national 3D archery events, Shortall has a 3rd place finish and several top 10 National/World finishes as well as multiple State 3D Titles. For several years Bart competed in the Open Pro Class in the ASA Pro/Am tour, and was on the Factory Pro Staff for several large archery manufacturers.
His bowstring knowledge and experience came from years as a hobbyist string maker, starting in 1997. He’s seen the bowstring industry quickly evolve with new materials, process’s and new specialized machinery. After the retirement, Bart turned to the bowstring industry as a new career and started a local string business, supplying archery retailers.
Bart also worked in the meat processing industry part time as a wild game processor. Being from the Chesapeake Bay region, Shortall was the designer/director of sales for the Original Crab Seasoned Pork Bratwurst which is now on sale in grocery stores all over the Mid Atlantic region, as well as minor league baseball stadiums.
