New Black Spur From Barnett: Bad News for Turkeys

Blackspur

Turkeys can be the most frustrating animal on earth to hunt. From the moment you step out of your truck into the pre-dawn dark, things can and often do go wrong. There are a lot of ways not to kill a turkey.

For those that are fortunate enough to get a cool, still morning and a bird comes in where you thought he would and everything is going as it should, you need to have confidence in your ability to make a killing shot.

Designed for the serious turkey hunter, the Barnett Blackspur crossbow is built to give you that confidence. Barnett knows that at the moment of truth, failure is not an option.

Reliability is a hallmark of Barnett crossbows, and the Blackspur makes use of light-weight, top-quality components that have proven themselves in field conditions, from the composite flight track and magnesium riser to the patent-pending bristle retainer to the metal-injected trigger.

Although reliability is critical for turkey hunters, turkey hunting itself places other demands on a crossbow. Whether you are running and gunning or sitting in a ground blind, a bulky, heavy crossbow unacceptable. Too many times in turkey hunting you have seconds to set up on an incoming bird. Bulky gear, especially your weapon, only complicates things. Turkeys are complication enough – you don’t need more of it from your gear. That’s why the Barnett Blackspur components have been integrated into an extremely compact and lightweight package. The Blackspur is only 17 inches from limb tip to limb tip, and it weighs only 6.2 pounds – not only extremely lightweight for a compound bow, but a full pound lighter than most shotguns designed for turkey hunting.

The compact design, light weight and the bristle retainer all help the hunter make those critical last-minute adjustments when the bird finally steps into view. The red dot scope, which is included in the Blackspur package, allows for quick and accurate target acquisition at the moment of truth.

The compactness of this bow does not force you to compromise speed or power, either. The Blackspur will send a bolt down range at 330 feet per second with 97 foot-pounds of kinetic energy. The turkey won’t have a chance.

The truth about great design is that often you don’t notice it. A well designed tool is made so that you don’t have to think about it – it just works. And in the excitement of the final few seconds of the hunt, you won’t notice that the Blackspur’s finger minders and pass through grip allow you a steady and safe hand on the bow. You won’t notice that the adjustable butt pad has allowed you to fit the bow to you rather than adjust yourself to the bow. But they’ll be doing their job, just like the rest of the bow, so you can do yours.

In addition to the red dot scope, the Blackspur comes with a rope cocking device, a lightweight quiver, lubewax. The bow itself is available in realistic camo.

Fallow deer meat is "venison," but the "venison" you see on restaurant menus is red deer raised on game farms. Pictured here is a fallow deer and this venison can be bought from many places via the Internet.
