Black Bear Stew Recipe Ingredients:
4 to 5 pounds bear meat cut into 1 inch cubes
1 eight ounce tin beef broth
1 large onion, diced
1 pound fresh mushrooms, if button size do not slice
1 tablespoons Italian Seasoning
1 turnip, cubed (important ingredient)
1/4 cup flour
2 pound small potatoes
2 tablespoons vegetable or corn oil
4 bay leaves (do not eat)
4 tablespoons butter
5 carrots, sliced
5 parsnips, sliced (optional)
Black Bear Stew Recipe Directions:
Here’s how Bobo does it…
Preheat oven to 325°F
Place bear meat in a plastic bag with flour and seasonings, shake until bear meat is thoroughly coated.
Brown meat in skillet with oil and butter and drain off grease from meat.
In a large dutch oven add 2 or 3 quarts of water and all ingredients.
Cook approximately 2 to 3 hours, adding water if necessary, checking every 30 minutes
Serve with fresh rolls or Italian bread.
