It’s right around the corner. On Jan. 4, one of the world’s fastest growing outdoor conventions and expos, the 2018 DSC Convention, opens in Dallas. Held in the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center and Omni Hotel Dallas in Downtown Dallas, the show theme this year is Legacy. Show dates are Jan. 4-7, 2018, and the hours are Thursday through Saturday 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The DSC convention and expo is one of the biggest fundraising events in Texas. Over the past six years, the event has generated more than $6.7 million for conservation, education and hunter advocacy initiatives around the world. In 2016 alone, DSC raised more than $1.4 million for conservation causes worldwide, plus another $1 million specifically for youth education.

The family friendly 2018 DSC expo is open to the public and will fill a record 800,000 square feet with 1,000 exhibitors and 1,800 booths featuring outfitted hunts, guns, gear and much more. The Zeiss Stage will host outdoor celebrities telling tales from hunt camp, and law enforcement officers who are the boots on the ground in Operation Game Thief.

Singer/songwriter Kylie Rae Harris, a Wylie, Texas native, will entertain the crowd with her brand of Americana and country music as well.

Make plans to watch respected hunter and award-winning author Craig Boddington receive the Weatherby Foundation International Hunting and Conservation Award. The event will be held at the Omni Hotel on Wednesday, Jan. 3. Cocktails and the silent auction will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the dinner and live auction will begin at 7 p.m.

The Conklin Award, created to recognize a superb hunter and stalwart conservationist in memory of James E. Conklin, will be presented to Alexander Egorov at the Omni Hotel Ballroom on Thursday, Jan. 4 from 6 to 10 p.m.

The Ladies’ Luncheon & Auction will be held at the Omni Hotel in the Trinity Ballroom on Jan. 5 from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
