Like most bowhunters, I spend a lot of time afield. Did you know that 21.8 million Americans bought a hunting license at least once in the last 5 years. In addition, license sales are up about 3 ½ percent this year and bowhunters are a growing part of that uptick. Moreover, here is another part of that equation. We bowhunters are the most active dimension of all hunters. We spend 4 to 5 times as many days afield as firearm hunters. Many bowhunters spend 25 or more days in the whitetail woods yearly. Other bowmen are scouting for elk, bear or even goats.

I don’t know about you but I like to spend that time afield dry. Wet is a fun barrier for me. I hate being wet. Wet feet, wet head or even wet pant legs are not my idea of an enjoyable day in the woods. I don’t usually have the pleasure of waiting for a sunny day to do scouting. I often have only today and it may be drizzling or wet. Here is a strategy that works for me and it will work for you.

I proactively treat my gear with Silicone Waterguard. It works on just about everything. Because I’m just a little green I appreciate that it is a little green too. Do you understand what pushes the liquid out of most aerosol cans? It is something called Propane/Isobutane fuel gas. It is compressed into a liquid and up to 40% of the liquid you hear sloshing around in the can is worthless propellant. What a rip.

The new Silicone Water Guard can is both bigger and better.

Only Silicone Water-Guard uses reclaimed CO2 and it only uses about 3 grams. That means about 60% more silicone product. And, because I’m always the guy looking for a bargain, I just noticed that Atsko just started putting their Silicone Water-Guard into a much bigger can. That means 30% more waterproofing. More is better. Do the math. That is about double the waterproofing the other guys offer. Not only that but their can has a much higher percentage of silicone in the mixture. That means more silicone waterproofing to keep me dry.

I usually buy mine at Wal-Mart but most sporting goods dealers carry it. It’s easy to recognize with the blaze orange lid. Be a dry guy. Think ahead and waterproof your gear this year. Find out the details and more by going to: Atsko Products
