The evening is perfect, and you are outside shooting your bow. The buck target is forty yards away, and you center your pin on the vitals. You exhale slowly and squeeze the trigger for the perfect shot. You watch the arrow fly toward the target, but it disappears beneath it. Immediately, you realize what happened: you forgot to adjust your sight, and now your arrow is buried in the grass somewhere behind the target.

Most archers can relate to the frustration of losing arrows during a session. Arrows can be expensive, turning what should be a relaxing evening into a search-and-rescue mission. If you manage to find your arrow, there’s a good chance the fletchings are damaged, and the carbon shaft might be cracked or broken. To avoid this situation, consider investing in The Shield Archery Backstop.

The Shield Archery Backstop, your ultimate ally for target practice! Whether you’re in your backyard, at a field, or on an archery range, this innovative backstop is perfect for honing your skills, taking long shots, or tuning your bow to perfection. Curious about its impressive durability and convenient storage options? Here’s what makes The Shield stand out:
– Effectively stops carbon, aluminum, and wood arrows (field tips only)
– Robustly tested to handle speeds up to 370 fps (narrow shaft carbon)
– Enjoy effortless arrow removal
– Thoughtfully designed with convenient storage features
– Lightweight yet incredibly durable
– Works great as a backstop for 3D targets
– Available in a variety of sizes, from 3′ x 4′ x 2″ thick to 6′ x 14′ x 2″ thick

The Test!

I was uncertain about The Shield Archery Backstop at first, but I decided to give it a try. I dislike losing arrows, especially if I make a mistake while shooting. I set up the 3x4x2 Shield backstop on an old soccer goal frame I had in my basement. The setup was straightforward, and I knew I could adjust it to fit behind any target. I was initially impressed with how easy it was to assemble.

Next, I wanted to test if the target would actually stop one of my arrows. I shot my Black Eagle Challenger arrow into the center of the target to see the results. The arrow weighed 320 grains and was traveling at about 315 feet per second. To my surprise, the target stopped the arrow immediately, and it barely penetrated the backside of the target. You can tell from the video that I was amazed at how well The Shield worked.

Here are a few important tips to remember: First, don’t leave The Shield Archery Backstop outside in the elements, as the material is not designed to withstand heavy rain. Second, make sure there’s space between the backstop and anything behind the target. If you place the backstop against a wall, the arrow will likely go through the target and damage the wall. Lastly, avoid using broadheads or field tips that are larger than the diameter of your arrow shaft while shooting.

I highly recommend The Shield Archery Backstop for your home range. The product is durable, easy to set up, and effectively stops arrows so you don’t lose them. You can check out all the different sizes of backstops on the B.U.P. Sports website. Listen to what the owner has to say about the product:

“The truth is that the archer is a special breed. We walk instead of drive to look for signs even in the off hunting season. We scout in conditions where the bugs could carry us away. We go for months without scented soaps, detergents, or colognes, and many of us shave our hair come September. While others spend their off-season enjoying different sports, we participate in 3D and league shoots. It is this kind of passion and commitment that drives me to develop unique and better sporting goods.”

The catchphrase in the hunting industry often is, “the next hunt begins when the last one ends,” or something similar. I believe that for archery hunters, the next hunt begins during previous hunts. We learn and grow from every experience, daydreaming about the next opportunity to enjoy what nature provides. Whether it’s investigating a twig snap or trusting your instincts that something is nearby, we take the time to plan our next trip to the woods, observe game behavior, and reflect on past hunts to learn from them. As I pass my passion for archery on to my children, I hope to also instill in them my commitment to serving the archer with integrity.
