Practice, Practice, Practice… The archery tournament season is heating up, and I need to practice daily. Since I don’t have time to drive to local archery clubs every day, I like to purchase 3D targets to prepare for the challenges of each competition. One target that consistently causes me problems is the javelina. I’m not sure why, but I always struggle with my yardage when aiming at it. To improve my scores with the javelina, I decided to buy the target from Delta McKenzie so I can practice as often as I need.

Realistic
The javelina 3D target is designed to look realistic, measuring 22 inches high, 35 inches long, and 10 inches thick. It is suitable for use with both field tips and broadheads, compatible with bows or crossbows that shoot up to 350 feet per second. The target is lightweight and easy to set up using the two stakes included in the box.
ASA and IBO Scoring
Delta McKenzie has integrated the ASA and IBO scoring systems into this target. You can practice shooting at the 14-ring, as well as the upper and lower 12-rings, and the 11-ring. The 10-ring and 8-ring are clearly visible on the target, making scoring straightforward. Whether you shoot ASA or IBO, this target is ideal for tracking your scores.
Take Care of the Target
The javelina target is constructed from solid flex-foam, so it’s essential to take steps to ensure its longevity. Although the target has a replaceable core, you can help prolong the life of the entire target by following these guidelines:
1. Keep the target sheltered from rain as much as possible.
2. Avoid leaving the target in direct sunlight for extended periods, as this can make the material brittle and hard.
3. When not in use, store the target in a protected area or consider purchasing a cover specifically designed for it.
By adhering to these simple recommendations, you can help ensure that your target lasts for a long time.
