When tuning into world news, it might seem like a heat wave is sweeping across the globe. Europe is seeing record-high temperatures, and parts of the U.S. are grappling with drought. However, Northwest Pennsylvania tells a different story! This June has been refreshingly cool and rainy, with over 10 inches of rain since April and even more on the horizon. This generous rainfall is a gift for our food plots, and the cooler weather is bringing out more deer activity. It’s incredible how nature finds balance, allowing us to appreciate the beauty around us while nurturing our local environment!
Make Way!
I’m thrilled to share that my BuckRope, right at the entrance of my food plot, draws a ton of exciting activity! Check out the video—on June 16th, the temperature was a cool 47 degrees. Watch closely as a curious young buck approaches the BuckRope, feeling a bit unsure at first. But wait! He senses an older buck behind him, eager to check out the scrape. Ultimately, the young buck decides to take a pass this time, but he’s now aware of the scrape’s allure and knows he can explore it another day.
The 2nd Buck
What an exciting moment it was when the younger buck graciously stepped aside for the mature buck to check out the BuckRope! Watching him curiously sniff around the rope scrape to uncover the scents of other deer was simply fascinating. It’s amazing how deer use their glands in so many ways throughout the year! Although this buck only touched the rope lightly, I have a strong feeling he’ll be back for another visit soon. What a delightful experience to witness!
Magic Man is Back
Last week, I had the pleasure of introducing you to my favorite buck for 2026, Magic Man! On the beautiful morning of June 19th, with a cool 52 degrees, he was on the move, visiting the BuckRope scrape multiple times before bedding down for the day. It’s so exciting to see him working the scrapes regularly, and I’m truly hopeful he sticks around the farm all summer long.
The Yanker
The temperatures in Northeast Ohio have been pleasantly cool lately! On the same morning when Magic Man was checking out my scrapes in Northwest Pennsylvania, a curious young buck stumbled upon my BuckRope at the Ohio lease. He was absolutely thrilled to leave his scent on it! Just watch him as he playfully launches the BuckRope into the air. Completely unfazed by its flight, he zealously marks his territory. Young bucks are so much like toddlers, full of wonder and excitement! Capturing this delightful moment on my SpyPoint Flex M cellular camera was truly fantastic.
The Dancer
I’m really excited to share my experience with a fantastic natural gland lure called Head-Scratcher! I’ve been using it on all my scrapes, and it truly drives the deer wild! In the video, you’ll get to see a young buck showing great curiosity about Head-Scratcher. It’s fascinating to watch him trying to elevate his scent on the BuckRope! I’m continually amazed by how long they can stand on their back legs and how high they can reach. Look closely as he uses his front legs for balance while rubbing against the rope, leaving his scent behind. The cooler temperatures are definitely making these bucks more energetic, even in June!
After the Morning Rain
Isn’t it fascinating how attuned bucks are to their surroundings? After a refreshing rain, on June 23rd, one curious buck paid a visit to the Ridge Scrape BuckRope to freshen it up. You can really see the excitement as he energetically engages with the rope using his preorbital and forehead glands. The Flex Dark captures amazing video and is in the perfect spot. It’s captivating to watch him leave his unique scent, completely absorbed in the moment!
