Wild turkeys are downright stupid about ground blinds. You can pop up a hub blind in the middle of an open field and a turkey will walk right up to it, when enticed by a decoy. I once interviewed a turkey guide in South Dakota about his hunting blinds. “We brush them in a little, but that’s more for the hunter than the turkeys,” he chuckled. “Unlike deer, they ignore a blind’s addition to a field or woodlot.”

Ground Blind Benefits
Hunters quickly embrace the comfort of a ground blind as it eliminates many of the most challenging aspects of bowhunting turkeys. First, you can draw your bow or raise your crossbow with little chance of being seen. By setting up a blind in an area of frequent turkey traffic, you can be assured that birds will hear your calls and may respond to decoys. You can slip in quietly when turkeys are still on the roost, organize your gear and be ready for a close encounter, all while being warm, out of rain or wind, and sipping on your favorite brand of coffee.
